Product video on a white background, no studio needed
Online stores love products on white: nothing distracts. Without a studio or a light box, you can film on your table and get that background in the edit.
How do you make a product video on white without a studio?
Film the product wherever you like, cut it out, then place it on white in your editing app. Keyotte doesn't add the white itself: it gives you the product on flat green, and the white goes on one track.
The upside: your background is perfectly even, with none of the grey patches of a badly lit white sweep.
How should you film the product?
Put the product on a steady surface, light it softly and evenly, and pick a background that contrasts with it. A white object on a white wall is very hard to separate.
If you shoot several products, keep the same light and framing for all of them: your store will look consistent, as if it came out of one studio.
- Soft, diffused light, no harsh reflections.
- A background in a different color from the product.
- Phone on a tripod, slow moves (turntable, hand presenting it).
- The whole product in frame, no edge cut off.
Do transparent or shiny objects cut out well?
Shiny objects are fine if they stay sharp; transparent ones (glass, bottles) are the hardest, because you see the background through them. Test them on a free 10-second preview before paying.
If tracking loses part of the product on a frame, go to that frame and click the missing part.
Why not just film on a white background?
You can, but filmed white is rarely even: grey corners, shadows, reflections. It takes a lot of light to look truly white.
With a cutout, the white is added in the edit: perfectly even, and you can change your mind later (brand color, styled scene) without reshooting.
How do you add the white background and the shadow?
Put a plain white background on the bottom track, the product clip above, and key out the green. A soft shadow under the product avoids the stuck-on look; most editors have a drop shadow effect.
Step by step in CapCut or Premiere Pro.
How much does it cost for a store?
A product video under a minute costs €1.99, with no subscription: you only pay for the videos you publish. To compare with a subscription if you have lots of products, see what you really pay.
