Using a cut-out video in CapCut
You've got your clip on a green background and want it on a new backdrop in CapCut. It takes two minutes: an overlay, then chroma key. Menu names can vary slightly between CapCut versions.
Which file should you import into CapCut?
Import the green screen MP4 exactly as you downloaded it, without sending it through a messaging app that would recompress it. The green needs to stay flat for a clean key.

How do you put the clip on a new background?
Open a project with your background (image or video) on the main track. Then add the green screen clip as an Overlay, so it sits above the background.
Resize or move the overlay to fit the scene.
How do you remove the green in CapCut?
Select the overlay, then find Chroma key, usually grouped with the background removal tools. Use the color picker on the green, then raise Intensity until the green disappears.
Then raise Shadow (or the edge setting) if a green fringe remains around the subject.
The green won't fully go: what now?
First check that you picked the green on the background, not on the subject. Then raise Intensity in small steps: too high and it starts eating the subject's edges.
If the clip was recompressed (sent through a messaging app, say), the green isn't flat anymore: re-import the original. If you see black instead of your background, read transparent video turns black.
Should you use CapCut's auto cutout instead?
CapCut also has an automatic background removal, handy right in the app. It usually keeps everyone in the shot and results vary from video to video.

Why is there a green fringe around my subject?
Intensity is a bit low, or Shadow isn't pushed far enough. Raise them gently while watching the hair and outlines.
Does my green screen video keep its sound?

Can I do the same in Premiere or DaVinci?
